We are seeking a proactive and highly motivated Sales Manager – Government / BDM to lead our business growth efforts within the Government and PSU (Public Sector Undertaking) segments. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in government sales, public procurement processes, tendering, and GeM (Government e-Marketplace), with a solid understanding of IT solutions and services.

Job Responsibilities

Government Sector Business Development

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across central government ministries, state departments, PSUs, and semi-government bodies.
  • Build and nurture relationships with key government stakeholders and procurement officials.
  • Generate leads through RFPs, tenders, direct sourcing, and government procurement portals like GeM, CPPP, and eProc portals
  • Tender & Bid Management
  • Monitor and respond to government tenders and RFPs/RFQs across platforms.
  • Lead the end-to-end bid lifecycle: from documentation and pricing to submission and post-bid follow-up.
  • Ensure all government compliances, certifications, and technical prerequisites are met.
  • GeM Portal Management
  • Maintain up-to-date company and product/service listings on the GeM portal.
  • Track bid opportunities, participate in online bidding/e-auctions, and optimize listings for visibility.
  • Liaise with GeM support teams and ensure all transactions are compliant and timely.
  • Sales Strategy & Target Achievement
  • Define and execute sales plans for the government vertical to meet revenue goals.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets from government accounts.
  • Keep track of public sector budgets, schemes, and technology adoption initiatives.
  • Internal Collaboration
  • Coordinate with presales, technical, and delivery teams to build compelling proposals and solution documents.
  • Provide inputs to leadership on market trends, pricing, and competitor activity in the government segment.

Skills & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field (MBA preferred).

  • 4–10 years of experience in B2G (Business-to-Government) sales, particularly in IT/ITES, infrastructure, or technology.
  • In-depth knowledge of GeM portal operations, government procurement lifecycle, tendering norms, and bidding strategies.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation skills with the ability to engage senior government officials.
  • Experience working with NIC, MeitY, State IT Departments, or eGovernance projects is a strong advantage.
  • Proficient with MS Office, tender portals, and CRM systems.

Preferred Attributes:

Experience in government sales in IT services, networking, cybersecurity, or software solutions.
Knowledge of MSME benefits, DGS&D registration, and public procurement guidelines.
Willingness to travel across regions to meet clients and attend government meetings.
